The Dead Sea is one of nature's wonders. Lying 1300 feet below sea level in the Jordan Valley, this inland lake is set in a deep rift between mountains that tower above it. It is the lowest point on earth, and is a remarkable healing environment well known in historic as well as present times. A natural phenomenon occurs at the Dead Sea. An additional layer in the earth's atmosphere filters out the harmful rays of the sun creating a favorable UVA/UVB ratio. This permits patients to lay in the sun for long periods of time without burning.
