3 days

Day 1 JERUSALEM/ ALLENBY BRIDGE/ PETRA

Cross the Allenby and drive to the "Red City half as old as time." From Wadi Moussa, travel on foot or horseback through a narrow gorge in the Nubian sandstone and arrive abruptly at the outstanding Red Rock City with the Treasury before you. Visit the Nabateans' Tomb, temples and dwellings which were hewn from the surrounding rock formations of multicolored stones. Petra was one of the most important caravan centers during Biblical times. It was lost to the world for over 500 years until rediscovered in the year 1812. Dinner and overnight in Petra.

Day 2 PETRA/ KERAK CASTLE/ MT. NEBO/ MEDABA/ AMMAN

Visit the Kerak Castle, defended by Crusaders for half a century before falling to the armies of the mighty Saladin. Then to Mt. Nebo for a wonderous view across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. Historians believe Moses' tomb lies in this region. Continue to Medaba with its Byzantine mosaics - including the oldest map of the Holy Land. The town dates to 2000 BC. Proceed to Amman for a short city-tour of the capital of Jordan as well as dinner and overnight.

Day 3 AMMAN/ JERASH/ ALLENBY/ BRIDGE/ ISRAEL

Depart Amman for Jerash and tour the best preserved example of Roman civilization known as the "Pompeii of the East," with its triple-arched gateway built in AD 129 to honor the Roman Emperor Hadrian. Visit the temples, baths, columned streets and plazas. Cross to Israel for the evening.
